About CostSquared

CostSquared helps US homeowners understand roofing costs before and after they talk to contractors: how big the job is, what goes into it, and whether a quote adds up.

What we do

• A roof pitch calculator that converts pitch, angle and slope and turns a roof's footprint into its sloped area, with every formula shown.
• A quote checker that checks a quote's arithmetic, compares its quantities with your roof size, and lists questions to ask about commonly required items.
• Guides that explain how roofing jobs are measured and quoted.

What we don't do

• We don't sell leads or pass your details to contractors.
• We don't install roofs or recommend particular contractors or products.
• We don't show a price range unless we have enough documented evidence for it. Right now, none has met that standard; see the data status.
• Our results are informational. They are not bids, inspections or professional advice.

How we work

Every formula is published on the methodology page and tested against independently worked examples before release. Each result shows the formula version used. When we refer to building-code requirements, we link to the official page we checked and the date we checked it. How we write and review content is described in our editorial policy.
