Terms of use
These terms apply when you use costsquared.com, which is published by CostSquared ("we", "us"). By using the site, you agree to them.
What the site provides
CostSquared provides calculators, a quote checker and guides about residential roofing. Everything on the site is general information to help you plan and ask better questions.
Estimates are not bids or advice
- Results are estimates based on the information you enter and the formulas described on our methodology page. They are not quotes, bids, inspections or guarantees of what any job will cost.
- A real price depends on things only an on-site inspection can show, such as decking condition, access, roof complexity and local requirements.
- The quote checker checks arithmetic, quantities and whether some commonly required items are mentioned. It doesn't judge whether a price is fair or whether a contractor is qualified.
- Nothing on the site is legal, financial, engineering or building-code advice. Building codes are adopted and amended locally; your local building department and a licensed contractor are the authorities for your project.
Your responsibilities
- Check measurements and results before relying on them.
- Don't climb onto a roof to take measurements; the methods we describe work from the ground or the attic.
- Don't use the site to break the law, to overload or disrupt it, or to collect its content automatically in bulk.
- Don't submit other people's personal information, or anything you don't have the right to share.
Accuracy and corrections
We test our formulas and check our sources, but mistakes are possible. If you find one, please tell us. We may change, correct or remove content and features at any time.
Outside links
We link to government and other outside pages as sources. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or availability.
Content ownership
The text, design and code of this site belong to CostSquared. You may share links and quote short passages with attribution. Your own inputs and results are yours to use as you like.
No warranty and limits on liability
The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site, including decisions about hiring a contractor or paying for work. Some states don't allow certain limitations, so some of this may not apply to you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
